WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE ALIVE ?
For this project, 143 people wrote a letter addressed to someone they had not seen for a long period of time. They wrote about what they had experienced, seen and learned from life. The authors of these letters range from housewives, professionals, students to amateur writers. At the conclusion of their letters, participants had to tell God, nature or anyone else, what it means to be alive. Copies of the correspondence were given at random to people in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puebla, Queretaro, and Tlaxcala without receiving the opportunity to respond to the authors.
The project includes 23 paintings by Carlos Ponzio (Mixed media on paper: 42 cm x 59 cm), and the first exhibition was held in November, 2016, in Tlaxcala. Here are some of the news in the media: 1. Agenda, 2. Síntesis, 3. Exp Polit.
In January and February 2017, Performances in Mexico City by Hostal Mercedes Av. (Then, under the name Fuel Injection Trio), were celebrated in Casa del Tiempo and Galería Garros, where selected fragments of the letters were dramatized between segments of music.
Several other events took place on May 13, 2017, in Laberinto Cultural SantaMa of Mexico City.
